The 9th Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), honored the best films released in 1936, and took place on March 4, 1937, at the Biltmore Bowl of the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, California. During the ceremony, AMPAS presented Academy Awards in 20 categories. Actor George Jessel hosted the ceremony for the first time.

Winners and nomineesEdit

Anthony Adverse, Dodsworth and The Great Ziegfeld received the most nominations with 7 apiece; My Man Godfrey and San Francisco came in second with 6 apiece. "Anthony Adverse" received 4 awards; "The Great Ziegfeld" and The Story of Louis Pasteur came in second with 2 apiece.
