The 2nd Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), honored the best films released between August 1, 1928 - July 31, 1929, and took place on April 3, 1930, at the Cocoanut Grove of the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, California. During the ceremony, AMPAS presented Academy Awards in 7 categories. The 2nd AMPAS-President William C. de Mille hosted the ceremony for the first time.

Winners and nominees

The Patriot and In Old Arizona received the most nominations with 5; The Broadway Melody, Alibi, and The Divine Lady came in second with 3 apiece. William Cameron Menzies, Harry Oliver and George Barnes were the first people to be nominated for a 2nd consecutive time.
